The Conference

The Department of Architecture of the University of Patras, in collaboration with scholars specializing in fortified architecture, is organizing the 1st International Scientific Meeting: Architecture of Early and Transitional Artillery Fortifications in the Eastern Mediterranean (15th - early 16th century). The conference will take place in person at the University of Patras, 11–13 June 2026.The conference aims to address issues related to the architecture, history, and technology of fortifications in the Eastern Mediterranean, following the gradual establishment of artillery in fortified architecture (early 15th to early 16th century). Languages: Greek and English. Online attendance will be available.
